Bengaluru IT Professionals Flock to Mysuru for a Stress-Free Commute!

Bengaluru’s infamous traffic jams are pushing numerous IT professionals to look for better options for a more relaxing and convenient commute. More and more of them are opting to travel back and forth daily between Mysuru and Bengaluru, instead of residing in Bengaluru.

Many commuters interviewed by The Hindu noted that the improved Bengaluru-Mysuru Access Controlled Highway, which has cut travel time between the two cities to only two hours, makes it a more appealing choice than living in the bustling city. With the added benefit of the extended Namma Metro line, several of them mentioned that the trip is quite seamless.

For many commuters, the trip starts early in the morning as they hop on the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses from Mysuru, with services operating every 30 minutes. They head towards Bengaluru and get off at the Kengeri Metro station. From that point, they catch the Namma Metro, which takes them to their jobs located in the city’s tech hubs, including Whitefield and Mahadevpura, thanks to the extended Purple Line.

Handy fix

The inter-city travelers claim that finishing the six-lane, access-controlled Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway has revolutionized their experience. “I previously stayed in Bengaluru, but the daily struggle was intolerable. Relocating to Mysuru, my hometown, improved my quality of life. Thanks to the expressway, the trip to Bengaluru is now quicker and much more pleasant,” Rajesh Kumar, an IT worker, shared.

This convenience in travel is further enhanced by the extended Purple Line Metro in Bengaluru. The Purple Line, linking Challaghatta to several areas in east Bengaluru and Whitefield (Kadugodi), has emerged as another significant advantage for travelers. With smooth connectivity between KSRTC buses and the Metro network, the ride from Mysuru to different IT centers in Bengaluru has become both effective and cost-efficient, commuters note.

“I moved back to Mysuru a few months after the entire Purple Line stretch opened,” Shalini R., a software developer based in Whitefield, shared. “I use the KSRTC bus daily, as it’s free for women under the Shakti scheme. I hop off at Kengeri and take the Metro to get to my workplace. It’s a routine I like more than being trapped in Bengaluru’s traffic for hours,” she noted.

“Now that hybrid working is an option, I only need to visit the office three times a week. This makes taking the bus and then the Metro a convenient way to get to my workplace in Whitefield from Mysuru, my hometown,” another commuter, Prasanth Murthy, mentioned.
